CAROLINE Springs’ march towards finals continued on Sunday, when the Lakers defeated VU Western Spurs by 25-points in the WRFL/EDFL Senior Women’s competition.
Caroline Springs put in an impressive four quarter display, extending their lead at every break. The final score was 4.7. (31) to 1.0. (6).
Caitlin Pretty continued her recent run of form in-front of goals, kicking another two goals. Shannon Lake also bagged two majors in the win. Cassie Wilson was named best on ground.
Brooke Muscat was the only goal kicker for the Spurs.
The Lakers’ final match of the season will be against Tarneit. The club will be searching for its fifth straight win.
In other results, Tarneit couldn’t match it with Craigieburn. The Eagles won by 86-points.
Rebecca Lines kicked six goals in a best on ground performance for Craigieburn. Kayla O’Brien also performed well.
Madeline Johnson was the Titans only goal scorer.
Sunbury was too strong for Glen Orden, winning 12.14. (86) to 0.0. (0) at Heathdale Oval.
The Lions had seven different goal kickers in the match. Brooke Surgeon led the way with three goals. Natalie East also kicked two goals and was named among the best.
Sunbury is currently third on the ladder and will play finals. Their final game of the regular season will be against Craigieburn on Saturday afternoon.
Ladder-leaders Keilor continued their unbeaten run, defeating Pascoe Vale by 65-points at Keilor Reserve.
The Blues had 21-shots on goal to one and probably could have won by more if they were more accurate in-front of goal.
Kallyn Gent, Gemma Wright and Jess Atta each kicked three goals in the 9.12. (66) to 0.1. (1) win.
Keilor now sets up what could be a Grand Final preview against Manor Lakes in the final round of the season. The last time the two sides met, Keilor won by 41-points.
In the final match of Round 13, Glenroy defeated Roxburgh Park by 79-points at Sewell Reserve. Casey Jess kicked five goals in the win.
