YARRAVILLE Seddon have maintained their premiership credentials with a solid win over Manor Lakes on Saturday.
The Eagles got off to a fast start kicking four goals while keeping the Storm to just two points in the first quarter.
While Manor Lakes opened their account in the second term, the Eagles still won the quarter by three points to extend their lead to 29-points at half-time.
A strong premiership quarter all but sealed the win for the Eagles, as they piled on five goals for the term to hold a 55-point margin going into the final term.
But to the Storm’s credit, they fought back in the last term, keeping the Eagles to just one point while doubling their score in the process.
However the lead was too much as the Storm fell short by 26-points.
Lachlan Longmire starred up forward for the Eagles with three goals, while Shane Weatherley and Nicholas Tsaloukis were the best ball users on the ground, while Jackson Lesko put two through the big sticks for the Storm.
In the rounds other matches, Albanvale again came out the blocks with a bang to lead by 35-points at the first change, as they continued their momentum to come away 38-point winners over the Roosters.
Meanwhile, Jason Butty kicked a match-high seven goals for North Footscray as they powered to a 71-point win over Newport, while Tyren Montebruno kicked six goals to take his season tally to 23-goals.
Montebruno currently leads the league ahead of Jason Butty on 21, while Albanvale sharpshooter Daniel Bartolo, who kicked three for the weekend, rounds out the top three.
After the Queen’s Birthday long weekend, West Footscray will have a chance to score their first win of the year, as they face Newport.
Last time they played, Newport took the four points after a close first half, before skipping away to win by 25-points.
Having played the Power once already, the Roosters will hope they can turn that two-quarter effort into a four quarter effort.
Ladder leaders North Footscray will look to make it seven wins on the trot as they travel to Manor Lakes, however the Storm will be no easy beats at home, having lost just once there this year.
Finally, Yarraville Seddon will look to extend the gap between the top-two and the middle two, as they travel to Albanvale to face the Cobras.
