WRFL Senior coach Anthony Eames and his team of assistants have finalised their senior squad ahead of Saturday’s WorkSafe AFL Victoria Community Championships clash with the Northern Football League.
After starting with a squad of 51 players, the coaching panel have narrowed the list down, with eight clubs represented.
Spotswood lead the way with seven selections, while Sunshine and Hoppers Crossing each have four players picked.
Eames said the talent of the WRFL could rival any league in the state, saying the Community Championships was a fantastic opportunity for our players to make their mark.
“I think the talent coming through is strong and I think the performances of all clubs over the first few weeks of the competition has been good, it is an even competition this year,” he said.
At the WRFL’s Jumper Presentation on Monday night, Anthony Eames announced Altona player Joel Magnabosco will captain the Senior side on Saturday.
The Vikings star was a part of the WRFL’s three point interleague win last year and has been an integral member of the senior squad this year.
The senior side will train at Whitten Oval on Wednesday night.
