The AFL Victoria – WRFL “Coach of the Month” for April 2017 is Charles Grech from the St Albans Football Club. This award recognizes some of the great work being done by local coaches in the Western region community and reinforces the importance of good Coaching in local football, schools and Auskick.
Karl Jani made the nomination, he said:
Charles shows unbelievable care and passion for every one of his players, he often talks to his players about life, not just footy – and is seen as more of a mate and mentor to his players.
He is 100% inclusive, regardless of a player’s level of talent, and is able to communicate effectively with all his players -this enables him to get the most out of every player on the field.
He has developed a quality culture within the Club and team, and has hardly lost a player to an opposition Club during the last 6 years; in fact players have come to Charles wanting to be part of what he has created.
Charles and his wife Kelly also have taken on the responsibility of Buku Khamis – a talented St Albans and Western Jets player. Buku may have been lost to the game had it not been for Charles and Kelly.
Congratulations Charles – a very well deserved winner amongst a plethora of outstanding nominations.
Charles will receive a Coaching Resource Pack and a $100.00 AFL Store Voucher for his dedication, and nominator Karl Jani will receive a $50.00 AFL Store Voucher.
