On Tuesday night, WRFL staff, board members and friends of the league came together at Whitten Oval to celebrate the achievements of outgoing CEO Bob Tregear.
Bob has officially retired after working in community football for the past 52 years and last night the WRFL paid tribute to him.
Bob began as an administrator at the Mount Evelyn Football Club, was a director and chairman of the Eastern Football League and was chairman at AFL Victoria.
For the past seven years he was the CEO of the WRFL. Under his leadership the WRFL has taken significant steps in becoming one of the most respected and professional leagues in the state.
Some of Bob’s achievements include a change in governance structure, strategic planning, the re-location to Whitten Oval, staffing re-structure and increased resources.
As part of last night’s celebrations, several members of the community sent congratulations and well wishes to Bob, including AFL CEO Gillon McLachlan, Western Bulldogs president Peter Gordon and AFL Victoria CEO Steven Reaper.
On behalf of everyone involved with the WRFL we would like to thank Bob for his work in football and wish him all the best for the future.
