THE WRFL Umpires Association handed out awards at its annual Junior Umpire Presentation Night last week.
First and second year umpires were honoured, with senior officials and umpires who officiate and mentor on Sunday’s also in attendance.
Special guests on the night included former WRFL Umpires Luke Wilke and Julian Ensink who are currently umpiring in the VFL. Wilke is a boundary umpire and Ensink is a goal umpire.
This year’s winners were:
Best 1st Year Boundary Umpire: Sarah Auciello, Riley Smith, Nina Morrison, Harry Morrison and Leo Mullaly.
Best 1st Year Goal Umpire: Bradley Heffernan.
Best 1st Year Field Umpire: Daniel Bray, Kyle Machado, Mark Ritchie, Thobey Burgio, Brayden Svilar and Zakary Cikala.
Most Improved Umpire: Oliver Hunt-Stapleton, Reggee Auld, Violet Cumming-Gray.
President’s Award: Shannon Van Boven.
Bruce Pain Award: Noah Piggott.
The WRFL congratulates all umpires for their efforts throughout the 2016 season.
