AFTER a season of losses Manor Lakes have finally won its first game for the season in a low scoring match against Albanvale at Howqua Reserve.
Despite Albanvale’s best efforts, the Storm had all the answers, proving too good for the Cobras in the Round 15 clash.
Despite not scoring in the final quarter, Manor Lakes were able to do enough to defeat Albanvale by 11-points, scoring their first win of 2016.
Even though Albanvale had been playing better football throughout the season, it was the Storm who got the job done in the end.
Best on ground for the home team was defender Jared Green, who was able to help prevent the Cobras from scoring as his pressure never faltered.
The win now means Manor Lakes may not win the wooden spoon, with West Footscray now sitting in last place on the ladder.
Everyone, including their cheer squad, gathered in the change rooms to help sing the Storms club song, as they excitedly sang it for the first time this season after the game.
There were also home ground wins across the board this round, but unlike the Manor Lakes Albanvale match, the rest were all high scoring games.
Yarraville Seddon have won their 13th match in a row after not only defeating West Footscray but not allowing them to score for the entire game.
The final score was 21.12. (138) to 0.0. (0).
The Eagles had 14 different goal scorers in the match, with Adam Bernhardt leading the way with four goals.
Glen Orden suffered a loss to North Footscray at Hansen Reserve. The Devils won 16.6. (102) to 1.6. (6).
Kane Williams kicked five goals, while Andrew Bottriell was named best on ground in the big win.
This win puts North Footscray neck and neck with Caroline Springs on the ladder, as the Lakers had a bye this round, the only thing putting the Devils behind is their percentage.
This round Caroline Springs will be hosting North Footscray. The last time these two teams met the Devils won by only five points, so it promises to be another exciting game of footy.
At Heathdale Oval, Glen Orden will be playing the top of the ladder team Yarraville Seddon, whilst Albanvale will be sitting out for their bye this week.
Manor Lakes will be aiming for two wins in a row as they take on West Footscray at Shorten Reserve.
