YARRAVILLE Seddon are flying high after they won the local derby against North Footscray at Hansen Reserve at the weekend.
In a carbon copy to the Eagles’ match against the Lakers a few weeks earlier, the away side managed to overcome a third quarter deficit to score an unlikely win, keeping their undefeated status intact.
North Footscray held the lead for the first three quarters before Yarraville Seddon came back in the fourth, winning the match by 5-points.
North Footscray looked the better side at three quarter time as they held on to a 12-point lead at the last change, but it wasn’t to be.
Their lack of defence in the last term proved costly as the Eagles managed to kick four goals to one to win the match.
The Devil’s played excellent footy throughout most of the match and can’t be written off in the finals, but they would be disappointed with how they didn’t finish off the game.
Two of North Footscray’s best players were Manuel Naci and Matthew Bellingham.
Shane Chapple and Paul Azar from the Eagles, were two players who put in 100 per cent effort across the match.
Yarraville Seddon may be looking like they are on the home stretch to walk into the finals undefeated after this match, but their final match for the home and away season will be against Caroline Springs, who right now, are looking like the only other team who could potentially snare a win.
Caroline Springs had another percentage boosting win at the weekend as they defeated Manor Lakes at Town Centre Oval.
The final scores were 33.15. (213) to 0.4. (4).
Lakers forward Michael Saker bagged nine goals in the demolition.
Albanvale hosted a close match against West Footscray, after losing the first half the Cobras fired up and dominated the rest of the match, winning 8.15. (63) to 7.7. (49).
This round, Manor Lakes will be playing Albanvale at Howqua Reserve, the last time these two met was one of the Storms best games only losing by 7-points.
Glen Orden will be travelling to Hansen Reserve to play North Footscray, if the Devils win, percentage will separate them and the Lakers who have the bye this weekend.
Finally, the Yarraville Seddon Eagles will head into its Round 15 match as favourites when they take on West Footscray at Yarraville Oval.
