We have had an exciting start to all WRFL Senior competitions this year.
As we pass the half-way point of the season, footy teams across the west are now turning their attention to the nine remaining games and also finals.
Below we look at how the Division 2 Clubs are travelling.

Division 2
Albanvale
This time last year: Division 3

2016: Division 2

Ladder position: 4th

Coach’s comment:
“We have been competitive in most games, the boys are doing the best they can,” coach John Thrush said.
“For the rest of the season we want to win as many games as we can.
“We want to make the four and keep bringing kids through, which we have been doing since the start of the season and keep trying to teach them good habits.”
West Footscray
This time last year:

Ladder Position: 2nd
Percentage: 203.06%
2016:
W: 1 L: 8 D: 0
Ladder position: 7th
Percentage: 24.16%
Coach’s comment:
“We are going much better than expected,” coach Shane Lucas said.
“We started off at ground zero and over 10 weeks have come a mile ahead of where we thought would be and that has culminated into a few wins in Round 9.
“We have had over 40 at training now and guys are missing game now.
“We have a good bunch of blokes playing footy because they love footy.”
Manor Lakes

Coach’s comment:
“It has been challenging and difficult, but also enjoyable season so far,” coach Aaron Bradley said.
“Our goals are to continue to improve and become more consistent in our on field performance.”
Caroline Springs

W: 6 L: 2 D: 0
Ladder position: 3rd
Percentage: 307.14%
Coach’s comment:
“We are extremely pleased with how we are progressing this season,” coach Scott Korcynski said.
“We are 6-2, so we are in a good position to push for top two.
“We have to keep working to the game plan and play to the best of our ability. We need to continue to be competitive against Yarraville and North Footscray.”
Glen Orden
This time last year:

Coach’s comment:
“We are winning the games we are expecting to win and it has been frustrating to not win some of the other games,” coach Stu Daly said.
“In the two games we have played against Yarraville the game has been there to be won at three quarter time and unfortunately we haven’t capitalised on those opportunities.
“But, we are feeling like we are getting better and better each week.”
North Footscray

Coach’s comment:
“The season so far has been really positive,” co-coaches Matt Walsh and Shaun Borlase say.
“We have beaten all teams once and have put ourselves in a great position leading into the second half of the season.
“Our goals are to continue to improve each week and give ourselves every opportunity for a top two finish.”
Yarraville Seddon Eagles

Coach’s comment:
“The top three sides are the standouts and Glen Orden aren’t far behind,” coach Dean Callaway said.
“Top three is what I thought we would be so we are going well, but there is still improvement in the team.
“North Footscray the team to beat they gave us a good touch up, Caroline Springs are also competitive, we were lucky to beat them, I rate them highly.
“Glen Orden are the danger side, they could provide a lot of pressure come finals.
“Finishing top two is our goal, it will be a tough ask, but if we can pinch a game against North Footscray or Caroline Springs in the second half of the season, I think we can finish in the two.”
