NEWPORT have moved a game clear of second placed Albion with a comfortable 59-point win over the Wyndhamvale Falcons, 14.6. (90) to 5.1. (31), as they played under the Friday night lights at Wyndhamvale South Oval.
The opening quarter was played at a heavily contested and breakneck pace as both sides played through the corridor and displayed lots of quality foot skills.
Despite the attractive spectacle it ironically took 15 minutes for the first goal of the game to be registered, which eventually came from Newport's Jehad Haddara.
Soon after a terrific solo effort from Jayme Gilmore got Wyndhamvale on the board.
Wyndhamvale was then only eight points down at the first break, 2.3. (15) to 1.1. (7).
Haddara soon had his second goal within the opening minutes of the second quarter with a clinical set shot from 40 metres that never looked like missing.
Despite a Liam Jones goal which trimmed the gap back to eight points, Newport's defence was strong and were able to cut off majority of Wyndhamvale's entries which they then transitioned into attack at quick pace.
Wyndhamvale's tormentor from last week, Youssef El Hawli, was the beneficiary of a nice piece of play in the second term, kicking his first goal of the night.
After Newport extended the margin to six goals early in the third quarter, Wyndhamvale hit back through Jayme Gilmore who had a patch of brilliance after he nailed consecutive set shots to close the gap to four straight kicks.
Newport soon stabilised, kicking two late majors through Mitchell Taleb and Youssef El Hawli and restored the six goal buffer.
Newport put the foot down in the last quarter as they slammed four majors with two goals coming from Chehab El-Dannawi.
The visitors were also able to keep the home side goalless in the final term.
Newport's Youssef El Hawli carried on from last week's nine goal haul to slot 6 majors.
Omar Alkantar was all class and didn't waste a possession and Sebastian Micucci continued his fine season.
Wyndhamvale's Dylan Sutcliffe, Cooper Trigg and Danny Rosenzweig battled hard, while Gilmore booted three goals.
Round 11 will see Sanctuary Lakes tackle Newport at Featherbrook Reserve and Wyndhamvale will host local rivals Werribee Districts at Wyndhamvale South Oval.
