THE Power bounced back from their disappointing defeat at the hands of Tarneit in round one by demolishing the Bombers to the tune of 115-points.
It was the perfect response after falling short last weekend, sending a message to the rest of the league with their dour defence and exhilarating attacking options.
Keeping the Bombers goalless for the entire match while kicking 17 of their own, the Power had a plethora of avenues to score from. They had nine goal kickers, with Omar Souki the standout booting six of his own.
Braybrook never stood a chance against Newport’s might and the match was a foregone conclusion by half time, with the Power leading by nine goals.
Al-Kantar, Badra and El Houli starred for Newport and if there was more accuracy up forward, the score line could have gotten even uglier.
The Bombers will need to do some soul-searching, having conceded a massive 48 goals in the first two rounds of the season.
They have the week off in Round 3 which will hopefully give the playing group a chance to recharge and attempt to turnaround their shocking start to the year.
Elsewhere, it was a tremendous come from behind victory by the Wyndham Suns as they bested Sanctuary Lakes by 36-points.
The Sharks started brilliantly, kicking four goals to none in the first stanza and holding a significant advantage.
The turnaround by Wyndham kick-started in the second quarter and they never stopped, with a miraculous reversal of fortunes they booted 12 goals to just two in the last three quarters.
After trouncing Laverton in round one, the Sharks had a chance to cement their position at the top end of the ladder, but were completely outclassed after quarter time by the Suns.
The ANZAC day long weekend is set to be an exciting Round for Div 3 Reserves, capped off by a match on the holiday itself.
Laverton take on Sunshine Heights on ANZAC day as the Magpies attempt to upset their much superior opponents and kick-start their season.
The Power will be looking to continue their blistering form displayed this round as they play Parkside at Bryan Martyn Oval.
The Sharks will be hoping to bounce back against Tarneit on Saturday in what is sure to be a close encounter.
Finally, in what is shaping up to be the match of the round, Wyndham will host the North Sunshine Roadrunners.
Both teams have shown promising signs early on in the year and it will be a vital match in terms of shaping Wyndham’s title chances.
