WHAT can you take from round one of a football season?
If you are lucky you can take four points, no injuries and a full list to head into round two.
Round one winners were Deer Park, Hoppers Crossing, Albion and Werribee Districts.
Jase Perkins the former Port Colts player made a welcome return to the WRFL kicking nine goals for the Lions in their win.
What a nightmare for defenders when they add Brendan Fevola to that line-up. Pass the Panadol please.
Spotswood will make their season debut this week when they travel to Kings Park to take on the Saints.
Spotty have lost a few good players, so it will be intriguing to see what Tom Langlands has to work with in 2016. Picking a winner here is a coin toss.
Albion got off to a great start beating the newly promoted Wyndhamvale.
Troy Kelm was easily best on ground, but he had great support from Josh Bench, the Taylor brothers and Mills who will all be better for the hit out.
Albion’s opponents this week are Sunshine who stayed with Deer Park for most of the game before fading in the last quarter. Again a very hard game to call.
Werribee Districts won’t want to take Wyndhamvale lightly as the Falcons showed last Saturday they deserve to be in Division 1.
The Graham brothers are going to cause opposition sides big problems as both are ball magnets and use it very well.
I think though Districts will be too strong for the Falcons.
The radio match of the day will see Deer Park unfurl its premiership flag and then take on the Warriors.
The Deer Park faithful will get their first look at Brendan Fevola and who will be the Warrior assigned the task to take on the former Coleman medallist? More panadol please.
Whether you think it is good or bad for the league there is no doubt it will get plenty of attention in the football world.
How could you not tip Deer Park?
Peter Maynard (Wyndham Councillor, former President Wyndhamvale FC), Denis Bunworth (Administrator, Wyndhamvale FC) and Rob Cachia (President, Wyndhamvale FC).
