VICTORIA has claimed back-to-back Sheffield Shield titles after defeating South Australia on the final day of play.
The Bushrangers needed just 98-runs to score the win and reached that total in the first hour of play on Wednesday.
Former Werribee Districts footballer Travis Dean played a vital role for Victoria in the win, scoring 111 in the first innings and then a handy 54 runs in the second innings.
The rookie opening batsman made his debut for the Bushrangers back in October and ever since his game has gone from strength to strength.
He became the first man to score a century in each innings of his Sheffield Shield debut, with back to back tons against Queensland at the MCG.
Team-mate Peter Handscomb put his hand-up for Australian selection, with a man of the match performance in the grand final decider.
He scored 112 in the first innings and was 61 not out in the second innings. Handscomb was named man of the match.
