THERE is now less than a week before the official start to the WRFL season.
Today we speak to PEGS president Robert Tigani about the clubs ambitions for 2016.
How has pre-season been: “A good start, boys are excited to be back,” Tigani said.
“We have initiated a club buddy program with the Under-14 team and the seniors.
“They are currently train together during pre-season.
“This gives the younger players an understanding of the culture, commitment and passion for the game that we want to instil in them.
“It also gives the older players a sense of purpose and contribution to the club, other than simply playing and winning games.
“Both are benefiting from the program. We hope to continue the engagement across the season with events, game participation and mentoring.”
What are your expectations for the new season: “Greater level of competition with at least one premiership this year,” Tigani said.
“Stronger community engagement and family involvement.
“Build our brand beyond its traditional boundaries.”
Approximately how many teams will you be fielding this year: 3.
