WITH just 10 days to go until the season begins, WRFL clubs are putting in the finishing touches on their plans and preparations for 2016.
Today we speak to Altona Junior Football Club president Vito Rubino about what’s in store for this season.
How has pre-season been: “Pre-season has started and it’s exciting to see all the players at training,” he said.
“A team of experienced coaches have been appointed and are working closely with Jason Walsh (Coaches Co-ordinator) and Vinnie Turcinovich (Junior Development Manager) to get the best possible preparation for 2016 season.”
What are your expectations for 2016: “We are expecting to have successful season through all levels,” Rubino said.
“All teams are aiming to be playing finals this year.
“With our Senior Football Club headed by senior coach Saade Ghazi there is a definite push to prepare all players to one day play senior football at the Altona Football Club.”
Any staff/coaching changes at your club: New Under-17 Coaches George Abboud and Steve Potter, Under-15 Coaches Cam Taylor and Marty Chaffey, Under-12 Scott Perry and Under-9 coach Leigh Taylor.
Returning coaches include Under-14 coach Frank Grima, Under-13 coach Jason Walsh, Under-11 coach Mark Wheeler and Under-10 coach Brett Robinson.
