NEWPORT is gearing up for an action packed season in both the senior and junior competition.
The club has built its senior team from the bottom up and is looking forward to getting their inaugural season in Division 3 underway.
Led by former Hawthorn premiership player Mark Williams, the club looks to be in good hands.

Captain: Seniors – Mahmoud El-Hawli, Reserves – TBA.
Key Ins: “The most notable inclusion in our team is our new senior playing coach Mark Williams,” administrator David Grubits said.
Mahmoud El-Hawli, Ziad Kaddour, Munir El-Houli, Khaled El-Houli, Jarryd Dixon and Belal Ali are also key ins.
Players to watch: “Many of our 2015 Under-18B WRFL Premiership team will be vying for a place in our inaugural Senior team,” Grubits said.
How has the pre-season been: “Pre-season has been very positive with a lot of hype around our Inaugural Year of Seniors,” Grubits said.
“Mark Williams along with John Rayner have been very professional and creative with the pre-season, ensuring all those who attend are getting maximum benefit.
“The players are getting to know each other and starting to bond well together and are keen to be ready for Round 1.”
President Stephen Martyn said “in addition to our seniors we have added a junior committee headed up by our Under-13 coach/junior coordinator, Anthony Daniels.”
“The junior committee is an important part of our club that will be specifically continuing to develop the Junior Teams and our highly successful Auskick program and ensure the junior offering is continually improved and is an enjoyable experience for all involved.”
Expectations this season: “To play a competitive brand of football, with continuous improvement is our main objective,” Grubits said.
“Where this places us in terms of ladder position is irrelevant at this early stage.”

First month: Tarneit (A), Braybrook (H), Parkside (H), Bye.
