The Western Region Football League is seeking applications for a Media and Communications Manager after the departure of current Media Manager Kirstie Fitzgerald, who leaves the WRFL at the end of September after accepting the Media & Communications Manager (Community) position with AFL Victoria.
Since joining WRFL in March 2013, Kirstie has developed our media profile across print, website and social media platforms to a high standard. Her energy and enthusiasm for the job has seen her working extended hours, seven days a week throughout the past three football seasons covering both senior and junior competitions.
Kirstie leaves a challenging benchmark for her replacement, a search for whom will commence immediately.
The Media & Communications Manager has primary responsibility for production of all League publications (Footy Record, fixture books, Annual Reports etc); development and maintenance of the WRFL website; development and maintenance of social media platforms; preparation of media releases and liaison with commercial partners, Broadcast and Marketing Consultants.
Essential requirements include a strong interest in community football; excellent writing, social media and computer skills; the ability to work flexible hours and to communicate with stakeholders at all levels; current driver’s licence; and a demonstrated flair for sports journalism. Relevant tertiary qualifications, previous experience in similar roles and availability to commence with minimum delay will be highly regarded.
This is a permanent full-time position (38 hours per week). The successful applicant will have the flexibility to spread his/her working hours to meet the needs of the job, particularly during the football season. An attractive remuneration package will be negotiated with the successful applicant, including provision for time off in lieu of additional hours worked
