TEAM PNG IS PALAU-BOUND!

Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea – 26 June 2025

The Basketball Federation of Papua New Guinea (BFPNG) is proud to announce that the PNG Under-23 Men’s and Women’s 3x3 Basketball Teams will depart tonight, 26 June, for Koror, Republic of Palau, to compete in the FIBA 3x3 Youth Nations League 2025 and the 2025 Pacific Mini Games.

The Pacific Mini Games will be held from 29 June to 9 July and will bring together over 1,500 athletes from 24 countries competing across 12 sports. This premier regional event provides a dynamic platform for young athletes to showcase their talents, foster camaraderie, and build lifelong connections throughout the Pacific.

The 3x3 Basketball competition will feature both Men’s and Women’s divisions, with teams representing nations such as Fiji, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Tonga, and host country Palau. Team PNG is grouped in Conference 1 alongside Fiji, Tonga, Palau, the Northern Mariana Islands, and Vanuatu.

The competition format includes a series of “stops” across two courts, allowing for rest days in between. Semi-Finals and Finals will take place on the last day of competition, where medals will be awarded to the top teams. A Technical Committee Meeting will be conducted within 48 hours prior to the start of the event to finalize logistics and ensure compliance with official FIBA 3x3 regulations.

BFPNG proudly extends its best wishes to our young athletes as they carry the flag for Papua New Guinea on the international stage.

We sincerely thank our athletes and their families for their dedication. Our gratitude also goes to our supporters—especially sponsors such as Kumul Mineral Holding Ltd, our valued member associations, the basketball community, and the many individuals whose time, effort, and belief have made this journey possible.

We are confident our teams will compete with pride, passion, and sportsmanship
