BFPNG host farewell and dedication ceremony after seven years.
After a successful seven-year journey characterized by significant progress, the Basketball Federation of Papua New Guinea (BFPNG), under the leadership of President David Peter, has reached a notable milestone.
During a formal farewell and dedication ceremony honoring our National 3x3 seniors as they prepare for the FIBA 2025 Asia Cup qualifiers in Singapore, the practice of bidding them farewell and offering dedications before international competitions was a pivotal element of a comprehensive strategy aimed at enhancing team performance and fostering a positive team culture.
President Peter emphasized the team's new name, "PNG Paradise," chosen to resonate with the beauty and warm spirit of the country's rich and diverse culture. The shift from "Tamioks" to "PNG Paradise," mirroring the pidgin version of PNG kumuls, was motivated by a desire to eliminate negative connotations due to uncontrollable safety and public concerns.
The Basketball Federation of Papua New Guinea remains steadfast in its commitment to creating a safe and supportive environment for all individuals within the code, both on and off the court, across all levels.
