Announcement of the 2025 3x3 Basketball progressive trim
Port Moresby - The Basketball Federation of Papua New Guinea has announced its progressive trim down list for the senior Asia Cup 2025 Qualifier in Singapore and the upcoming 2025 Mini Pacific Games in Palau for the Under 23 division.
Head Coach Nick Daroa stated that this is a preliminary list, with the final six players in each division to be announced following the Trials scheduled for February 15th and 16th.
Players removed from the current list have not met the eligibility requirement of possessing a valid PNG passport, which was requested to be submitted prior to December 31, 2024. Additionally, some players have been disqualified from further participation in the trials due to non-eligibility issues, such as the inability to produce a valid PNG passport.
The commitment and hard work of all players are acknowledged; however, possessing a valid passport remains a personal responsibility and a critical priority for FIBA eligibility standards. This ruling is applicable to both Opens and Under 23 categories.
The teams will ultimately be trimmed down to four traveling members and two non-traveling reserves in each division after the final trials on February 15th and 16th.
