BASKETBALL PNG Participates in the FIBA Oceania Inaugural 3X3 High Performance Camp
PORT MORESBY – The Basketball Federation of Papua New Guinea is excited to participate in the inaugural FIBA Oceania 3x3 High Performance Camp with the support from Olympic Solidarity in Gold Coast, Australia.
Basketball PNG’s Marcia Muri and Lesianne Kalinau, have successfully completed the online theory session and are now in Gold Coast, Australia acquiring practical experience from September 24th to September 28th, 2024.
The 5-day camp is designed to prepare both Muri and Kalina for the 2025 Mini Games in Palau.
David Peter, President of the Basketball Federation of PNG said, “These sessions will enhance the knowledge and skills needed to succeed, both on and off the court. By combining education with practical application. These is a fantastic opportunity to boost PNGs readiness and confidence for the upcoming Games.”
He further added that, “The Program contributes to FIBA’s strategic Priorities of Empowering National Federations, developing youth Basketball, and Making 3X3 the most hype urban sport aiming to further boost capacity development for the future of 3X3 basketball in Oceania.
Papua New Guinea will be joined by American Samoa, Australia, Cook Islands, Federated States of Micronesia, Fiji, Guam, Kiribati, Marshall Islands, New Caledonia, Northern Mariana Islands, Palau, Samoa, Tahiti, and Vanuatu.
The FIBA 3x3 High Performance Camp will take place on the Gold Coast, Australia, from September 24-28, at Somerset College with two days of competition to take place in the heart of Surfers Paradise.
Through this camp, FIBA and Olympic Solidarity are committed to supporting the growth of 3x3 in the region and providing opportunities for young athletes, coaches and referees to reach their full potential with the support of NOCs, NFs, and the City of Gold Coast.
