The BFPNG women's 5X5 national team's two-day training camp was successfully concluded.

Port Moresby - Truly a transformative achievement for our 5X5 Senior women’s Train-on squad to have, a former Olympian coach teach professional and effective components of Basketball.

Carrie Ann Graf has coached teams in the WNBL, WNBA and Australia’s national team, and has been honoured for her contribution to basketball coaching. Graf now Director of Sport, Canberra University, is no stranger to mentoring programs and conducting lectures, as part of the university’s sport studies program.

Graf’s visit to PNG was through the Australian Government, under Pacific Aus Sport, through FIBA Foundation, with the hope to fulfill FIBA Oceania Strategic priority by empowering National Federations through Professionalizing team structures.

Working with a mix level of experience; like new players and others, who have been around representing Basketball at the national and international level, the two-day camp, was a great way of bonding.

Day one was dedicated to recapping and skill building; day two (2) defensive Games, based on ball strength defence, man-to-man defence, transition defence; Then move on to basic offensive exercise to help overcome size and height and bring together success in the upcoming Pacific Games; With friendly matches in between, to fine tune for the girls.

The Papua New Guinea Basketball Federation thanks the Australian High Commission Papua New Guinea through its Pacific Aus Sports and FIBA Foundation.
