Waiwai Elected BFPNG President

PORT MORESBY (Papua New Guinea) - Emma WaiWai has been officially elected President of the Basketball Federation of Papua New Guinea (BFPNG), following the federations Annual General Meeting.

Mrs Waiwai has been involved in basketball across a variety of roles for more than 30 years including her positions as the President of the Women’s Basketball Association and Port Moresby Women’s Basketball League President.

Joining her on the board, is Mr James Gore, who brings a wealth of financial expertise to the Federation as the newly elected Treasurer.

The BFPNG Executive Board Members are Mrs Waiwai (President), Mr Simon Dixie (Vice President),  Mr. Mr James Gore (Treasurer), and Mr Gosa Jack (Secretary).

Mrs Waiwai said she was grateful about being officially elected as President and was passionate about growing the code.

“BFPNG have exciting times ahead with the upcoming FIBA Under 17 Oceania Championships in September as well as the partnership collaboration through the Australian Defence Force and FIBA for development and accreditation for our technical support team including referees and bench officials,” Mrs Waiwai said.

“We are looking forward to working closely with our affiliated associations, we are in a very good position to take the game above and beyond in PNG.  We are grateful for the ongoing support of the Australian Government , PNGAus Partnership through the Team Up Program, FIBA and our in-country partners, the Papua New Guinea Olympic Committee and the Papua New Guinea Sports Foundation.”
