Twilight Basketball Returns This Friday

The Basketball Federation of Papua New Guinea (BFPNG) will launch its second phase of Twilight Basketball this Friday, May 5 at the Taurama Aquatic & Indoor Centre (TAIC).

Following on from the program’s huge success late last year, the second installment of Twilight Basketball will once again see the Hoops for Health (H4H) initiative being delivered on Friday evenings.

More than 2000 people participated throughout the program’s six-week operation in 2016, with some Friday night’s drawing crowds of more than 400 players.

The free program is open to all ages, with 5V5 games for children aged 15 & under taking place from 5pm to 7pm and 3X3 matches for those aged 16 & over happening from 7pm to 9pm.

Games are played to music in an alcohol, betel nut and drug free environment.

BFPNG Chief Executive Officer Joel Khalu said the Federation was thrilled for the program to be recommencing.

“Ever since we finished the program in November, we’ve had people asking us when it would be starting back,” Khalu said.

“It’s always positive to hear that type of enthusiasm from participants and it's a reflection of how fantastic Twilight Basketball is,” Khalu added.

Phase two of Twilight Basketball will be held on the following dates at TAIC - May 5, May 12, May 19, May 26, June 2 & June 9.
