Undefeated Sides Battle For Mixed Basketball Crown
Undefeated sides Ink Shoppe and PBV2 – Rainbow Travel, will face-off at 8pm this Wednesday night at the Taurama Aquatic & Indoor Centre for the title of Hoops for Health (H4H) Mixed Corporate-Social Competition champions.
Following seven rounds of competition, Ink Shoppe finished first overall in Pool A, while PBV2 – Rainbow Travel shot their way to the pinnacle of Pool B. Both teams sealing top spots without having experienced the feeling of a loss.
Over the last two-months, sixteen teams have competed in the BFPNG mixed- basketball competition. Along with the grand final on Wednesday night, they’ll also be a number of classification games on show to conclude the 2016 season.
BFPNG Chief Executive Officer Joel Khalu said the feedback from players competing in the Federation’s first ever H4H Mixed Corporate-Social competition had been very positive.
“Players have expressed how much fun they’ve had, which is an excellent reflection of how well the competition has run,” Mr. Khalu said.
“There was a good balance of players who came along each week just to have fun, mixed with those that tended to get a bit more serious.”
“Because of the high number of teams we had this year, when we run our same mixed competition in 2017, we’ll look at having two separate categories. One for those teams that just want the social aspect and don’t care what the score is and another division for those players that are a bit more competitive.”
“Most importantly though, we’re very happy that we’ve been able to provide an opportunity for over 150 people to be active and get fitter & healthier by playing sport every Wednesday night.”
