LEVEL 2 COACHING COURSE COMMENCES

The PBF President also highlighted the huge increase in the number of teams now playing basketball and the need for more coaches to be developed, especially for the lower levels of competition (ie the need for more level 1 accredited coaches).  When the level 2 was completed we would have more coaches capable of teaching level 1 courses.

PBF Board member Mr Bill Keldermans also attended the opening of the course and spoke of the need for coaches to become students of the game.  He stressed the need to have good planning in their coaching and the need to maintain records of what was being taught so that ongoing reviews could be conducted.

The course is practically orientated and coaches are required to share their opinions on the many topics up for discussion.  In addition they have homework assignments, and material to prepare for upcoming sessions.  The first half of the course is being conducted on court and the latter part will be conducted in a classroom, where coaches will continue to have assignments to complete.  The course will take 35 hours to complete.
