PHS continues domination in ISL Girls Varsity bball

Palau High School (PHS) continued its domination in the team standings as they secured their 5th straight victory over Bethania High School, 57-19, Friday in the ongoing 2014 ISL Girls Varsity basketball tournament.

PHS showed might as they blanked BHS in the opening quarter and take a 12-0 lead. Then continued to showcase their offensive and defensive prowess as they spurted a 12-8 run in the second frame to take a 24-8 lead.

From there, PHS met little resistance as they went on to secure another win and take a commanding 5-0 win-loss record in the team standings. Trinity Misech led the scoring chores for PHS with 31 points.

With the loss, BHS suffered its 4th setback for a 1-4 tally.

In other games, MHS won over BHS, 18-16; PHS bested PMA, 49-40.

Games will have the final four today with the losers battling for third place honors on Thursday at the Palau National gym while the winners will be pitted in the championship game on Friday also at the Palau National gym.

Games will start at 4 p.m. and teams are required to be on time. Teams will also provide at least two volunteers to be the table official at each game. FIBA rules will be applied in the said tournament which is under the supervision of the Palau Basketball Federation (PBF). By Peter Erick L. Magbanua (Island Times News)
