Surangel Kings get past Matakui in IP&E NBL

Team Surangel Kings adds another win in their record this time at the expense of Matakui, 93-91 in the ongoing elimination round of the 2014 IP&E National Basketball League (NBL) at the Palau National gym.

After taking a 23-12 lead in the opening frame, the Kings went on a scoring spree as they outscored Matakui in the second with a 32-28 output to close the first half with a 55-40 advantage.

From there the Kings held on despite being outscored in the second half of play to escape with a win. Five players from Surangel Kings finished in double digits starting with Armando Canseco who topscored for his team with 21 while Reid Una Rikrik, Arnold Undecimo, Masao Umedip and Ronald Magcalas tallied 19, 18, 17 and 10, respectively.

On the other hand, Matakui also spread the scoring chores evenly with Al Obrero and Brooks Tkel leading the way with identical 14 markers while Wade and Derrick Faustino chipped in identical 15 and Roydan Renguul had 14 on the losing end.

Games resume tonight with Breakers versus WCC Hammers at 7 p.m. followed by Ngaarad Red Torch against Ngerchemai Ranchers at 8:30 p.m.

Tomorrow’s matches will have Matakui taking on Peched Raw at 7 p.m. Thursday matches will feature Breakers against Ngaraard Red Torch at 7 p.m. while Medalaii Meda Boyz will face Surangel Kings in the main game at 8:30 p.m.
