Rivals beat Ranchers in IP&E ABL

Pool A leaders Ngermid Rivals continued their winning ways this time beating the Ranchers, 99-81 Thursday night in the ongoing IP&E Amateur Basketball League (ABL) at the Palau National gym.

The Rivals took a 23-18 lead in the first and then broke away with a 25-19 in the second to control the first half with a 48-37 advantage. Though they were taken by surprise in the third canto, the Rivals were able to stand their ground and went all the way to win the game.

King Ngiraboi led the charge for the Rivals with 25 as Elway Ngiraboi added 21. Mike Williams, on the other hand, topscored for the Ranchers with 42 points while teammate Israel Brel chipped in 14 on the losing end.

In other games, Hanpa Cardinals won over Ididers, 85-71.

Games resume tonight with Meda Boyz versus Lawmen PEAC at 6 p.m. followed by the Hanpa Cardinals-Ngerkesoal Styx at 7:30 p.m. while Ikelauans will face Breakers at 9 p.m.

Wednesday night matches will have Blue Sharks against Rivals at 6 p.m. as Matakui will meet PCC Mesekiu at 7:30 p.m. while Red Torch will take on Ididers at 9 p.m.

Thursday night games will feature Hanpa Cardinals taking on Papago Smooth at 6 p.m. as Stingers will test Raw Surf at 7:30 p.m. while Surangel Kings will be pitted against Red Storm in the night cap at 9 p.m.

Teams are reminded to use their uniform in every game. The jersey/t-shirts should match with the shorts and their numbers. Teams will be charged $25 for failure to comply and will be defaulted.

Teams this season, teams are divided into two pools. Pool A will have Papago Smooth, Ngarchelong Blue Shark, Ngaraard Red Torch, Hanpa Cardinals, Surangel Kings, Meyuns Red Storm, Melngoes, Ranchers, Ididers and Ngermid Rivals. Pool B will be composed of MEDA Boys, Matakui, Idid 4x4 Wheelers, Ikelauans, Stingers, Lawmen PEAC, Raw Surf, Breakers, Airwaves and PCC Mesekiu.
