Nationals, Spoilers level NBL semis series

Teams Nationals and FR Spoilers managed to level their respective semifinals series to force a winner take all Game three in the ongoing Final Four of the 2013 season of the IP&E National Basketball League (NBL) played at the Palau National gym.

Down 1-0 in their series, the Nationals managed to re-group as they beat Peched Raw, 89-82 to tie the series and force a Game three. The Nationals showed might as they opened the game with a 27-17 lead and but logged behind in the second quarter as Peched Raw found their touch as the latter outscored the Nationals with a 28-17 run as the first half came to a close at 45-44.

With their backs against the wall, the Nationals gathered themselves as they sizzled for a 30-15 run in the final canto that gave them the win and tie the series. Edward Baysa led the scoring run for the Nationals with 24 points as teammate RB Dorado added 23 while Perry Oiterong topscored for Peched Raw finishing the game with 24 on the losing end.

On the other hand, FR Spoilers gets to fight another day as they turned back WCC Hammers, 97-79 to tie their own series at 1-all. The Spoilers never let their guards down after establishing a 48-39 lead at the first half.

Then the Spoilers sailed smoothly with the win as Lester Mendoza clipped 25 baskets as teammates Coco Gonzales and Al Obrero added 16 points, respectively while Mike Williams carried the load for WCC Hammers with a career high 45 points.

As follows are the results of Game One, WCC Hammers won over FR Spoilers, 79-73; Peched Raw defeated Nationals, 80-73.

Game Three tips off tonight with FR Spoilers versus WCC Hammers at 6 p.m. while Peched Raw will face anew the Nationals in the main game at 7:30 p.m.

Winners of the semifinals will advance to the championship while the losers will vie for third place honors.
