FR Spoilers, WU face off for FBL title
One team aims to retain its supremacy while the other team seeks its lost glory.
This has become the story as defending champion FR Spoilers meet Western Union this Sunday at the start of their best of three finals series in the 2013 season of the Filipino Basketball League at the Palau National gym.
The Spoilers got their chance to defend their crown after beating RP Rangers, 90-81 in the semifinals while Western Union fended off Surangel Stars, 88-85 to mark their way back in the finals.
Game One is set at 3:30 p.m.
Set to lead the Spoilers are Michael Bombita, Coco Gonzales, Lester Mendoza, Mark Pagayanan, Aries Echanova, Val Domingo, Gil Lomboy and Francis Tan while Western Union will rely heavily on the performance of Dennis Castro, Bong Alambra, Gener Aguinaldo, Erwin Senadre, Ronald Magcalas, Janno Toquero, Michael Garcia and Anon Cajegas.
On the other hand, curtain raiser will feature RP Rangers taking on Surangel Stars for the battle for third place at 1:30 p.m.
Games are supervised by the Palau Basketball Federation (PBF). This year’s FBL League is supported by ATT Bar and Restaurant, HE Automotive, Palasia Hotel, Palau Royal Resort, Surangel and Sons Company, FR Construction, Engrs.
