Stingers beat Breakers, 89-80 in IP&E NBL 2013

Team Medalaii Stingers rock the second half as they went on to beat the Breakers, 89-80 Friday night in the ongoing 2013 season of the Shell IP&E National Basketball League (NBL) played at the Palau National gym.

Leading 40-39 at the end of the half, Medalaii Stingers rallied their way in the third as they outscored the Breakers with a 23-14 run to take a 63-43 lead. Then the Stingers continued their run in the final canto as they spurted a 26-17 rally to take the win with five of their players finishing in double digits.

Jeffrey Tkel led the scoring fray for the Stingers with 19 as teammates Cosby (17), Leon (16), Spice Koshiba (14) and Tochong Abear (10), respectively. On the other hand, Moses Takong topscored for the Breakers with 22 while teammate Bsail Gibbons added 19 on the losing end.

In other games, FR Spoilers won over Idid Airwaves, 100-61; Ksau Imgaing Solutions bested PCC Mesekiu, 73-59.

Games resume tonight with Ngermid Rivals against FR Spoilers at 6 p.m. followed by Ksau Imaging Solutions versus WCC Hammers at 7:30 p.m. Tomorrow night’s games will feature Peched Raw taking on Idid Airwaves at 6 p.m. as Breakers will face FR Spoilers at 7:30 p.m.

Thursday night will have 4x4 Wheelers taking on WCC Hammers at 6 p.m. while Ksau Imaging Solutions will meet Peched Raw in the main game at 7:30 p.m.

Teams seeing action this season include defending champion FR Spoilers (sponsored by FR Construction), Peched (sponsored by Surangel’s Raw Surf Shop), 4x4 Wheelers (sponsored by Palau Trading Company), Ksau Imaging Solutions (sponsored by Surangel and Sons Company), Nationals 19 and Under (sponsored by IP&E Palau), WCC Hammers (sponsored by Williams Construction Company), Medalaii-Stingers (sponsored by Neco Marine and Koror State Youth Council), Idid Airwaves (sponsored by Koror State Youth Council), Ngermid Rivals (sponsored by Koror State Youth Council), PCC Mesekiu (sponsored by Palau Community College) and Breakers (sponsored by Palau Trading Company and Senator Mark Rudimch).
