GBH team A wins EASC Central Elem School hoopfest

Team George B. Harris (GBH) Elementary School team A showed might as they held on to beat a tough Koror Elementary School (KES) Lady Stars, 37-33 to win the championship crown of the 2013 EASC Central Elementary School basketball league held at the Palau National gym.

Trailing 10-12 at the end of the first quarter, GBH team A rolled in the second as they spurted a 10-4 run to take the lead at the half, 20-16. From there, GBH team A held on with their defense to take the win and the title.

Dil-Eluut Tarkong topscored for GBH team A with 13 as teammate Lusii Rubasch chipped in 8 points while Jecylyne Adelbai led the scoring for KES Lady Stars with 12 but on the losing end.

Winners were awarded with specially crafted trophies immediately after the championship games.

Games were supervised by the Palau Basketball Federation (PBF).

On the other hand, PBF National Development officer Topps Sungino said that the EASC for Elementary boys will open on March 18, 4 p.m. at the Palau National gym. He is reminding all teams to be preset during the opening rites to obtain game schedules and receive donations from the PBF, FIBA Oceania and PNOC.

“We decided to move the EASC for elementary boys because the public schools will have their exam week from March 4 to 8 and it will be followed by the MOE awareness week from March 11 to 15,” Sungino explained.
