Ngaraard State holds 3-on-3 basketball tourney

A total of five teams are seeing action in the ongoing 1st Ngaraard 3-on-3 Basketball tournament held at the Ngaraard Elementary School court.

Teams that are seeing action in the tournament include Team Mekeald, Team Madedengiil, Team Ungelel, Team Roisingang, and Team Ngemeduu. The team’s names represent some of the significant land areas and hamlets of Ngaraard State.

The tournament is for player ages 13 to 25 years old and is sponsored by “Soak Kau Store”.  

The teams are also sponsored by UAK (Ulekeriul A Klengar) program with t-shirts and providing awareness toward a Healthy Community and Healthy Living, additional sponsors include teams shirts sponsored by Delegate Gibson Kanai, Senator Elect J Uduch Sengebau Senior, Leilani Senior, Chief of Staff Isaac Soaladoab and families, fans and friends supporting their respective teams.

The program is also supported by Acting Principal of Ngaraard Elementary School Spis Sakuma, PE Teach Melvin Olgeriil, who is also the official referee of the games under the mandate rules of Palau Basketball Federation 3on3 programs.  

Further recognition to Delegate Kanai for donating the new basketball board, to Dieter and Ingrid for donating water pressure equipment to help clean the basketball court.   

Last November 18 team Madedengiil won over Ngemeduu, 16-10 while team Roisingang defeated Mekeald, 14-13.  

Games are set to resume on November 25 with Ungelel versus Roisingang while Mekeald will face Ngemeduu in the main game.  

The Ngaraard Youth and community welcome anyone and everyone to visit Ngaraard on Sunday afternoon and enjoy a game of 3on3 Basketball Tournament. The championship game is set on December 23.  By Peter Erick L. Magbanua (Island Times News)
