MOE II, Shark Attack score win against rivals in Rudimch GB League
Team Ministry of Education (MOE) II and Palau Pacific Resort (PPR) Shark Attack start their campaign on the right track as they scored separate victories, Wednesday night that signaled the start of the 2012 season of the Rudimch Enterprise Government/Business League at the Palau National gym.
It was an uphill climb for MOE II as they managed to beat a tough PPUC Kamik, 66-65. MOE II struggled in the first quarter as they found themselves down 20-13 and then found their shooting touch in the second canto as they spurted a 28-12 run to close the first half with a 41-32 advantage.
PPUC Kamik tried to get back into the game in the final quarter as they scored back to back baskets to trim the score down to 66-62 with barely second remaining. PPUC Kamik would then score on a three point shot to cut the lead at 66-65 with less than 10 seconds remaining in the game. But MOE II melted the clock down until the final buzzer to take the win.
Rusty led the scoring chores for MOE II with 24 as teammate Osami added 21 while Etitl topscored for PPUC Kamik with 25 on the losing end.
On the other hand, PPR Shark Attack unleashed its deadly form as they drubbed Surangel and Sons, 91-54. Dennis Castro led the attack for PPR with 22 baskets and was backed by Joeger Supnet who chipped in 18 markers.
Ryan Tayag led the scoring clutches for Surangel and Sons with 16 as Ador Hilvano tallied 10 on the losing end.
In other games, Team ABC bested Palasia Hotel, 82-81; Palau Ongos won over Palau Ngebard, 81-69; MOE Spiders downed PNCC, 68-66; PRR Dragons escaped with a 59-58 route against Sam’s Sharks; Fish & Fins Hunters defeated WCTC, 76-56.
Games will resume tonight with PPR Stingrays versus Galaxy Builders at 6 p.m. while MOF Omsangel will meet MPIIC in the main game at 7:30 p.m.
Coaches and team representatives are reminded that there will be a meeting on August 13 at 11:30 a.m. at the Palau National gym. Guidelines and schedules of the games will be the main topics. Attendance is a must.
