After their heart breaking loss last weekend, Western Union bounced back Sunday to tame the Ilocandia Bulls, 110-91 in the ongoing 2012 season of the Filipino Basketball League at the Palau National gym.

Taking a 49-41 going into the third canto, Western Union broke wide open the game as Nino Cajegas, Dennis Castro and Erwin Senadre took over the scoring chores and led a 33-26 assault to take a commanding an 82-67 advantage.

From there, Western Union stood firm as they went all the way to score the win and sport a 10-3 win-loss record in the team standings. Castro paced Western Union with 27 markers as teammates Senadre and Cajegas chipped in 20 and 16, respectively.

Raul Osias kept the Bulls alive in the scoring department as he finished the game with 32 markers on the losing side as they take an 8-5 tally.

In other games, Hanpa Cardinals turned back team Choppers, 99-64; and MJ Rangers subdued Surangel and Sons, 77-71.

Games will resume on August 5 with Rams/Guardians versus MJ Rangers at 12:30 p.m. as FR Spoilers face the Jaguars at 2 p.m. while Western Union takes on Hanpa Cardinals in the main game at 3:30 p.m.

On the other hand, D’Originals took an early advantage after beating 9-Ball Friendsters, 76-68 to take Game One of their best of three championship series in the Master’s League.

D’Originals went scoring at will after taking a 21-9 lead in the first quarter. Veteran skipper Jimmy Domingo led the scoring chores for D’Originals with 24 as Nelson Baysa topscored for 9-Ball Friendsters with 15.

Game Two of the series will be played on August 5 at 11 a.m.

According to FBL chairman Joseph Torres, Ocean View/PCGM takes third place honors after FR Spoilers said that they will not play because most of their players have gone back to the Philippines.  By Peter Erick L. Magbanua (Island Times News)
