Melengoes, Spoilers take down rivals in IP&E NBL

Team Melengoes and FR Spoilers showed might as they went on to beat respective rivals in the ongoing 2012 season of the IP&E National Basketball League (NBL) at the Palau National gym.

Melengoes nailed its second win to beat cellar dweller Surangel Kings, 84-75 Tuesday night. Melengoes went strong in the opening quarter as they mounted a 22-8 lead and from there never hold back to take the win.

Big man Kent Moore paced Melengoes with 18 points as they now are 2-12 in the team standings while Vitores Fernando topscored for Surangel Kings with 26 as they remain winless with a 0-13 card.

On the other hand, FR Spoilers went on to score their ninth win at the expense of team Kabong, 105-89 Wednesday night. The Spoilers wanted the win so bad as they bolstered a 53-46 lead at the half and continued their mastery enough for them to win the game.

Michael Bombita paced the Spoilers with 34 points as they now are 9-4 while Armando Canseco led Kabong with 24 as they slipped to 6-8.

In other games, Peched Raw won over Surangel Kings by forfeiture; Islanders bested Meda, 57-55; Kabong shut down Aqua Smooth, 103-74; and Spoilers downed Mercury Optimax, 101-89.

Games resume tonight with Meda versus Spoilers at 6 p.m. while Islanders will meet 4x4 Wheelers at 7:30 p.m. Monday night games will feature Spoilers taking on Aqua Smooth at 7:30 p.m. while Kabong will face Surangel Kings at 9 p.m.
