4x4 Wheelers nails 4th win in IP&E NBL

Contender 4x4 Wheelers nailed its 4th straight victory at the expense of the Nationals 17 and Under team, 92-90 in over time Friday night in the ongoing 2012 season of the IP&E National Basketball League (NBL) at the Palau National gym.

It was a close game as both teams engaged in a shooting spree that led to both teams locked at 82-all at the end of the fourth quarter. Needing an extra period, 4x4 Wheelers were led by the duo of Sunshine Soalablai and Yutaka Gibbons Jr. who lifted their team for the win.

Solalablai finished with 25 while Gibbons added 23 as they now sport a 4-1 card in the team standings. Edward Baysa paced the Nationals with 26 but was not enough as they suffered their fourth lost for a 1-4 tally.

In other games, Peched Raw won over Melengoes, 88-78; Meda defeated Surangel Kings, 65-54; and Peched Raw bested Aqua Smooth, 78-77.

Games resume tonight with Melengoes versus Nationals 17 and Under at 6 p.m. while Islanders will face Meda at 9 p.m. tomorrow’s games will have Peched Raw taking on Surangel Kings at 7:30 p.m. as Kabong will test the Spoilers at 9 p.m.

Thursday night matches will feature 4x4 Wheelers against Mercury Optimax at 6 p.m. while Kabong will meet Peched Raw at 9 p.m.
