4x4 Wheelers level c’ship series

Team 4x4 Wheelers showed composure in the dying minutes of the game to beat FR Spoilers, 79-75 in Game Two of their best of three championship series, Wednesday night in the 2012 season of the IP&E Amateur Basketball League (ABL) at the Palau National gym.
   
With the win, the series goes to a decisive Game Three as team 4x4 Wheelers leveled the series to one game apiece.

Team 4x4 Wheelers were ahead 76-75 when Gino Smau went scored on a lay up to give them a 78-75 cushion. Smau then placed the icing on the cake as he sank his bonus free throw as he was fouled in the process by Aries Echanova of FR Spoilers with 11.2 second remaining.

Smau’s free throw gave team 4x4 Wheelers the win as he finished the game tied with teammate Clint Mersai with identical 16 points to back up Sunshine Soalablai’s 20 point performance.

FR Spoilers tried to tie the game but did not have enough fuel left as Michael Bombita paced them with 25 markers on the losing end.

Game Three of the championship is set tonight at 7 p.m.

In the consolation match, team Kabong led by Jason Sied’s 35 points defeated Aqua Smooth, 96-64.

Winners will be awarded immediately after the championship game.
