Breakers, Bullets score win going into playoffs

Team Breakers and Dngeronger Bullets scored separate victories to boost their campaign going into the playoffs of the 2012 season of the IP&E Amateur Basketball League (ABL) at the Palau National gym.

The Breakers showed consistency as they beat Palau Pacific Resort (PPR) Shark Attack, 76-53. After taking a 29-21 lead at the end of the first half, the Breakers hanged on as they outscored PPR Shark Attack in the third canto with a 24-20 output for a 53-40 advantage.

From there, the Breakers fended off any possible PPR Shark Attack comeback and sail for the win. Joey Sumor paced the Breakers with 24 points while Lloyd Martin and Byron Andreas topscored for PPR Shark Attack as they finished with identical 11 markers, respectively.

On the other hand, Raul Osias and Anthony Iskawa tallied 22 and 20 markers as they led the Dngeronger Bullets past the Ikelauans, 77-75. Cassiboy Adelbai topscored for the Ikelauans with 28 baskets on the losing end.

Games resume tonight with the playoffs featuring Stingers versus Breakers at 6 p.m. while Surangel Kings will face Ngerkesoaol at 9 p.m. tomorrow’s matches will have Kabong against PPR Shark Attack at 6 p.m. followed by the Ranchers-Dngeronger Bullets tussle at 7:30 p.m. as B.O.G. will meet Ikelauans at 9 p.m.

Thursday’s games will have On Fire taking on the Cardinals at 6 p.m. as Spoilers will battle Aqua Smooth at 7:30 p.m. while Mesang Red Storm will be pitted against 4x4 Wheelers at 9 p.m.

The playoffs will be a best of three games format with the winners advancing to the next round. The tournament is a tobacco, alcohol and drug free program.
