PHS Spiders keep clean slate in ISL Boys Jr. varsity hoopfest

Palau High School (PHS) Spiders kept its clean record in the team standings after beating Emmaus High School (EHS) A Squires, 61-53 Wednesday afternoon in the 2011 Inter-School League (ISL) Junior boys basketball league.

After trailing 13-21 in the opening quarter, the Spiders went on defensive mode as they outscored the Squires in the second canto with a 14-6 run to close the first half with the score tied at 27-all.

The Spiders continued their defensive prowess as they limited the Squires to six points in the third to establish a 40-33 lead. From there, the Spiders stood their ground as they prevented any possible Squires comeback and score the win.

With the win, the Spiders take the top post in the team standings with a clean 6-0 win-loss record while the Squires are 2-2.

In other games, PMA A Warriors won over MHS Cardinals, 73-23; PHS Spiders beat BMS, 90-22; MHS Cardinals outscored BMS, 53-51; and PMA A Warriors defeated EHS B, 56-50.

Games will resume today with the final four while the consolation game will be played on November 21 at the Palau National gym while the championship will be on November 22 also at the Palau National gym.
