PHS Black Widow wins ISL Girl’s varsity hoopfest

Showing their skills in fundamental basketball and aggressive defense, Palau High School Black Widow added another trophy to their collection as they routed Bethania High School (BHS) Stellars, 79-52 to win the championship crown in the 2011 Inter-School League girl’s basketball league at the Palau National gym.

PHS Black Widow displayed their determination to bring the crown to their campus as they established a 29-10 lead at the first quarter and never looked back as they pressured BHS Stellars to commit crucial turnovers to take the game away.

Charmaine led the scoring chores for PHS Black Widow with 27 points while Lucy Aguon powered the Stellars with 16 on the losing end.

In the consolation game, Esichang tallied a career high 40 points to fuel Palau Mission Academy (PMA) A Warriors past Mindszenty High School (MHS) Lady Cardinals, 57-53.

Trophies were awarded to the winners by ISL coordinator Corrine Hideos immediately after the championship games.
