Rudimch Government/Business League: Spoilers, MOF Omsangel stays unbeaten

Business Division leader team Spoilers and Government Division leader Ministry of Finance (MOF) Omsangel kept their clean records after beating respective rivals in the ongoing 2011 season of the Rudimch Enterprise Government/Business League at the Palau National gym.

Team Spoilers showed grace under pressure as they managed to beat a tough SDA Crusaders, 87-85 in a come-from-behind victory in overtime. Trailing 77-79 with barely three seconds left in the fourth quarter, Spoilers Leonilo Gonzales threw a desperate pass to teammate Michael Bombita, who went up for a shot and was fouled.

With no more time left in the game clock, Bombita drilled two pressure packed free throws to send the game into overtime.

In overtime, the Spoilers secured the lead as Bombita exploded and led them to win the game. He finished with a career high 51 points as they kept a commanding 5-0 win-loss record while Chris Tangunan paced the Crusaders with 25 baskets as they suffered their first setback for a 4-1 tally in the team standings.

On the other hand, MOF Omsangel also kept its clean slate as they bested MPIIC, 89-75. Trailing 19-23 at the opening quarter, MOF found their shooting range as they outscored MPIIC with a 29-12 run to close the half with a 48-35 lead.

From there, MOF Omsangel went all the way to nail the win behind the 19 markers of Weston while teammate John Stills had 18 as they also sport a 5-0 record while Johnboy topscored for MPIIC with 18 as they are 2-3.

In other games, PNOC/PBRA Mercury Optimax won over PPUC Kamik, 80-71; PNCC Molekoi defeated MOE II, 70-60; PPR Shark Attack downs Fish and Fins Hunters, 64-46; PRR Dragons bested Sam’s Sharks, 64-59; Mason’s Hardware drubbed Dollar 99, 99-62; MOE II outgunned MOE I Spiders, 81-66; and PNCC Molekoi bested Justice League, 88-63.

Games will resume tonight with MOJ Cops versus MOE I Spiders at 6 p.m. followed by the KSG-Justice League match at 7:30 p.m.

Monday night games will have PPUC Kamik against MOF Omsangel at 6 p.m. as Justice League will meet MPIIC at 7:30 p.m. while PNCC Molekoi will face PNOC/PBRA Mercury Optimax at 9 p.m.
