WU bounces back beats Surangel and Sons, 100-94


After suffering a setback last weekend, defending champion Western Union bounced back to beat Surangel and Sons, 100-94, Sunday August 28 in the ongoing 2011 Filipino Basketball League (FBL), Sunday at the Palau National gym.

After taking a 22-21 lead in the first quarter, Western Union came strong in the second as they mounted a 22-13 run to close the first half with a 44-34 lead. From there, Western Union never looked back despite the last minute charge from Surangel and Sons as they nailed the win.

Erwin Senadre provided the firepower for Western Union as he finished the game with 43 points as they take a 11-2 win-loss record while Arnold Undencimo topscored for Surangel and Sons with 32 as they fall behind in the team standings with a 3-10 tally.

In other games, Guardians bested PNQ Rams, 79-68; Slashers won over Hanpa Cardinals, 91-80; and Mam’l Divers Rangers defeated Jaguars, 79-64.

Games will resume on September 4 with PNQ Rams taking on Aloha Maid Choppers at 11 a.m. followed by the Hanpa Cardinals-Guardians match at 12:30 p.m. as Slashers meets the Ilocandia Bulls at 2 p.m. while Spoilers will face Mam’l Divers Rangers at 3:30 p.m.
