Shell ABL playoffs: Kabong takes last spot in finals

Down 87-90 with 11 seconds left in the clock in the fourth quarter, Kabong executed a perfect play with Perry Oiterong and Douglas Schmidt playing decoys that left Traxx Mark open for a three point shot that send the game into over time.

 In the extra period, it was all Kabong as Una Rikrik, Joeger Supnet and Perry Oiterong did much of the damage as they led a 6-2 run that saw them winning the game and taking the last spot in the championship round.

 Rikrik led the scoring chores for Kabong with 28 followed by Oiterong who had 22, Mark with 15 and Schmidt with 14 while Yutaka Gibbons Jr. topbilled for Idid 4Wheelers with 22 on the losing side.

 With the win, Kabong takes on a well rested Airwaves in a best-of-five championship series while Idid 4Wheelers will meet High Tide for the consolation game.

 Meanwhile, in the WNBL, Sam’s Kryptonite barged their way into the championship round after beating Bring It On, 50-43 Thursday night. The Kryptonites ignited a 20-10 run in the final canto gain the upper hand and went all the way for the win.

 Sweety led the charge for the Kryptonites with 16 as they closed the series with a 2-0 count while Jaime tallied 16 for Bring It On.

 WNBL playoffs continue on April 27 as Money takes on Smooth Riders on also at 6 p.m.

 The tournament sanctioned by the Palau Basketball Federation and is a tobacco, alcohol and drug free program. All violators will be banned from participating.
