KSHL 14 YEAR BOYS QUARTER FINALS RESULTS

Ididers finished in 9th position by defeating Meda Juniors in the first game on Saturday. As usual Meda Juniors started slowly and Ididers had the better of the first half. But as shown in previous games Meda Juniors came back in the second half to win that half but the 19 point lead at half time gave Ididers a handy 53 – 36 win. For Ididers Ketiit Kyota had a game high score of 13 points and was assisted in the scoring by Ngiratis Tellemes with 10. For Meda Juniors, Brett Meriang got 11, Jaycee Nolan had 8 as did Keen Sakuma.

In the first quarter final Ngermid led at each change to defeat Dngerongrl/Mekatii Comob by 57 – 35. Both teams played some good basketball and while the score seems spread, the game on the court was much closer than the scores indicate. Tyler Otei continued his high scoring to end with 26 points and team mate Tyrel Isidoro ended with 10. Kib Gabriel battled hard on the boards for the Combo team and was rewarded with 19 points while Johnny Sumang scored 10.

The second quarter final had all the elements of good basketball with man to man defence, great passing inside, aggressive rebounding and some great shots. The 12 point win by Meda was again no indication of the standard of the game and the highlights on display. Meda moved onto the semi finals with their 57 – 35 win. For Meda, Cody Ngiraungil had a tremendous 34 points while RB Dorado contributed 16. Peched’s main scorers were Jackson Kadiasang with 14 and Colbert Etpison with 13.

Just when we thought it couldn’t get more exciting, it did! The third quarter final between Echang South Coast and Ngerchemai Ranchers was a battle of two different styles of basketball. The smaller South Coast team focused on an outside game and the taller Ranchers looked to go inside. South Coast Coach, Jesse Sumor decided to live or die by the 3 point shot and while his team hit 8 from outside the arc for the match (5 by Scotty Tacheluw), die they did and went down to the Ranchers by the score of 67 - 60. For Ranchers Shawn Augustine had an outstanding game with 30 points and Isechal Ngiraimau hit 11. For South Coast both Peace Sumor and Scotty Techeluw had 15.

In the final game of the day, Meyuns and Peched Reds faced off for the last semi final spot. It seemed that by half time the Meyuns team was heading for a win, but Peched Reds came back with a vengeance in the second half, to only go down by 49 – 61 at the end. For Meyuns Tanaka Iyar had another good game and scored 22 points while Gerrel Solang continued his prolific scoring with 21. Peched Reds Medermel Yaoch had a game high 27 points and Jalen Tewid got 14.
