NATIONAL SQUADS ENJOY VARIETY

Last week the CAT Team from Camp Katuu provided personnel to conduct plyometrics sessions to replace the early morning fitness program.  This week they conducted circuit training to replace the strength program.

Last Saturday Palau Swimming Association Head Coach, Tina Shima, from Japan, conducted a lengthy water aerobic session in the pool at 6.00am.   The players were amazed how challenging such a session was.  The pool session was followed by another early morning breakfast where they got to socialize for a short while.

Then on Monday 15th the squads attended an athletics meet at the track where they competed in various events against the local track stars.  The players were placed in events that would be challenging to each of them and to their credit they performed remarkably well.  While the track stars had both the speed and the knowledge of pacing themselves for each event, the basketball players gave their all and in a few cases shocked the track stars into performing at their best to win.

The future schedule allows for repetition of these variations as well as a few more.  It is hoped that this will freshen up the approach by the players toward their conditioning work.
