While all the the games started as shootouts in the first term, with 11 points the biggest quarter time margin, one big term from each of the winning sides proved the difference, with 44 points the closest final margin at the end of the day.

Telling facts: Captain Shane Kersten gave Geelong a four point lead at quarter time, the first of 11 unanswered goals to set up the win against Frankston. The Cats defense worked overtime in the second and final terms, keeping the Dolphins scoreless, while the forward made them pay at the other end added 15 goals.
