The Minister for Sport The Hon John Eren MP has just announced the third round of the Victorian Government’s Defibrillators for Sporting Clubs and Facilities Program 2015-19 open for applications
The program provides Victorian sporting clubs with the opportunity to acquire an automated external defibrillator, also known as an ‘AED’, for their club or sports facility.
Victoria community-based sporting clubs and acknowledged peak and state sport and recreation bodies involved in the delivery of sporting and active recreation opportunities are eligible to apply direct to the Department of Health and Human Services for a defibrillator package under the program.
Defibrillators are a vital link in the chain of survival, and along with CPR, give people experiencing sudden cardiac arrest the best chance of living.
The package includes a high quality defibrillator, some basic emergency resuscitation skills training and six years of essential maintenance. This package will be provided by St John Ambulance Australia on behalf of the department.
