ENTHUSIASTIC AS USUAL !
Our Athletics Development Officer (ADO), Tierata Taukaban, recently finished a 12-day Workshop for Primary School athletes, based at the National Stadium. The course covered most aspects of Athletics under the headings of run, jump, and throw - but from a fun perspective. To conclude the project, the athletes were offered a competition at the same venue. This took place on Friday, Jan. 25.
24 young athletes came to compete. They were divided into two age-groups. Junior = aged 6, 7, 8. Senior = aged 9, 10, 11. They mostly tried all their events, so a little resting time was allowed between each event. The Field events were held in pairs. The whole programme took approx. three hours.
Tierata was assisted by David, Eneree, Rabangaki, Kireua, and Kairo (athlete's mother).

It is evident that Mereann is a potential heptathlete, dominating the JG group. But ten other athletes won at least one of their events. It is to be hoped that these will feature in the Primary Schools Inter-School competition in September, and that they will also come to do some training with KAA in the meantime.
Altogether, a worthwhile project.
